Check Out of the Chase
By Catherine Kasper and the Angels of Abundance™
Is it necessary to always chase after money? For some people, it seems that it is. There never seems to be enough. There always seems to be something lacking that needs to be purchased.
When you stop the frenetic activity needed to obtain money, it might make you panic a bit. It might make you wonder how you’ll afford all the goods and services you wish to be a consumer of. So panic if you want to. You’re allowed, but when you’re finished panicking, think what an end to or even a lessening of the constant chase does for you.
It lifts the pursuit of money from your shoulders. It lightens your load and turns your focus on the creation of that which you want. It gives you a free pass.
Instead of panic or overwork, what do you do to get things?
Instead of working solely to create the money to purchase goods and services, work at creating the goods or services themselves. Skip needing the dollar to be your enabler!
Before you wail, “But you’re creative, I’m not,” which is typically what I hear when the Angels suggest this to someone through me, consider this:
- You can create the intent that someone will give the item to you as a gift.
- You can ask for the item. Go to http://www.freecycle.org and sign up. People post free offers of things they no longer need and others respond with a request for the item. You can also post that you want an item and someone might just give it to you. I’ve been on freecycle for months now and people donate amazing things just because someone asked!
- You can barter with someone who will give you the item in exchange for doing something in return.
- You can trade something you have for something someone else has.
- You can take something you do not want and trade it for something else you don’t want but that you know somebody else wants! You make the trade with the first person and then you take the thing you just obtained to the second person and trade for something that you do want.
These techniques and others like them often become fun games. They stretch your ability to be creative, test your originality and often your craftiness. They often bring you things more quickly than getting a second job or working overtime and then purchasing the item would.
But, more importantly, they allow you to take a breath and pause a bit. They allow you to become more child like and remember skills you once had that you probably haven’t used in a long time. Unless you had money when you were a kid, you relied on your persuasive abilities and creativity to get the things you wanted. Add those largely forgotten skills to your repertoire now and use them to give yourself room to breathe a bit.
You’ll feel more secure in your ability to take good care of yourself and the load on your shoulders will feel a little lighter. Give it a try.
